The Epic systems from KVANT Lasers are the new laser projectors with supercharged power output. The three projectors in the range offer a full-colour output of 100, 170 and 270 watts, with scanners capable of atmospheric, abstract and basic graphic effects.
The Epic is designed for harsh outdoor environments, and its housing is built to IP65 standards - thoroughly waterproof and dustproof.
And because we understand that the internal colour alignment of RGB modules can be an issue when lasers are permanently installed far from reach, we fitted Epic models with Motorised Dichroic Filters as default, making that otherwise fiddly procedure an effortless task.

Our users have felt the effects of the supply chain in recent years, particularly concerning the availability of FB4s. This situation has led to increased competition. While we encourage competition, we have unfortunately witnessed long-term partners resorting to counterfeit hardware, which has been disheartening. After encountering ongoing challenges in combating these supply chain issues, we recognised the need for a fresh approach. Our solution involved a redesign of the FB4, incorporating readily accessible, modern components. This undertaking was no small task, requiring retooling the entire assembly line and developing firmware from the ground up.
The FB4-XE is the new variant of the FB4, specifically designed to meet the demand of the marketplace while ensuring as seamless integration between existing variants as possible. While the underlying components have been entirely revamped, all other aspects remain unchanged. The FB4-XE maintains the same physical dimensions, same pinouts, and board-level connections as the FB4-SE. As a result, our OEM partners can seamlessly incorporate the new hardware and the ability to deploy the new hardware quickly without issues.
From the end user’s perspective, the transition to the XE variant is equally seamless. Although the firmware has been rebuilt from scratch, the user interface, feature set, and options remain the same. We are committed to simultaneously developing firmware and features for both XE and SE versions. Inside the software, you will interact with XE versions of FB4, the same as SE variants. The only visible distinction will be the “XE” tags in various locations to help identify the XE variants.
The only downside we encountered with the new FB4-XE is the inability to make the brand-new firmware backwards compatible with BEYOND versions prior to 5.2. This challenge arises from the intricate interplay between the new processor and firmware and the interaction between the new firmware and BEYOND. Although we attempted to emulate the SE variant for backward compatibility, we determined that it would introduce stability and complexity issues that are not conducive to a device used for show production, where reliability is paramount.
On a positive note, we have made significant progress in clearing the backlog of orders, and within the next month or two, we anticipate having ample stock availability for FB4. Once the stock is replenished, you will be able to place orders for the FB4 as usual through our website. If you have previously placed an order and are awaiting a shipment date, we encourage you to reach out to your sales representative for an estimated time of arrival.
We take immense pride in our hardware development teams for their resilience in navigating the challenges posed by the supply chain while concurrently working on the development of FB4-XE. We are excited to meet the growing needs of the laser marketplace, as our production capacity for the FB4 has significantly increased beyond pre-pandemic levels.
We sincerely thank our valued users for investing in our brand and entrusting us with their business. We understand the challenges brought about by the shortage of FB4s and sincerely appreciate your patience and support. We are excited to provide this solution to ensure the continued progress of the industry that we love so much in the direction our customers demand.
Q: Why did you have to make a new variant?
A: Over the past few years, the shortage of FB4s has been keenly felt by most of our users and OEM partners. We have dedicated significant time and resources to mitigate this issue, spending more time than we would have liked just on the phone and email searching for necessary components. Unfortunately, we frequently encountered challenges such as receiving used or counterfeit parts that couldn’t be used. In light of these circumstances, we made the decision to shift our focus from fighting with suppliers to pursuing a more effective approach; rebuilding the FB4 on more modern and highly available parts. As a result, the XE variant was created.
Q: Are SE variants still in production?
A: Yes, Both the XE and SE are in production. However, the parts supply for SE hasn’t gotten better; the FB4 volume has only increased due to the XE variant being added.
Q: Why could the counterfeiters build Fake FB4s, but you guys couldn’t build real ones?
A: Counterfeit hardware often incorporates counterfeit chips, and it would be hypocritical of us to use counterfeit components ourselves while strongly opposing counterfeiting of our own hardware. Additionally, counterfeits that do not use counterfeit hardware may resort to using used CPUs or b-stock chips, which operate at slower speeds. Therefore, it’s important for us to maintain a commitment to sourcing genuine components that meet the quality we strive to provide for our users.
Q: What if I don’t want XE and want SE?
A: Orders and backorders for our hardware are being processed and fulfilled in the order they were received, following a first-in, first-out basis. The supply of hardware will be based on the units that come off the assembly line first. However, if you require a specific piece of hardware for a legacy installation or any other specific requirement, we recommend reaching out to your sales representative. They will assist you in exploring the possibility of obtaining an SE variant to meet your specific needs.
Q: How can I tell which variant is my FB4?
A: The simplest and easiest way to tell is through the actual printing on the device. It will designate SE or XE after FB4 in its name on the hardware. Additionally, you can easily identify which is which in BEYOND 5.2 or QuickShow 5.2 in the FB4 settings window, projector settings window, and the hardware list.
Q: Will SEs become obsolete?
A: We want to assure you that there are no plans to discontinue support for SE variants. We remain committed to providing long-term support and maintenance for older hardware, including the QM2000 boards being supported with the latest versions of BEYOND. You can have full confidence in our ongoing dedication to ensuring sustained functionality and assistance for our valued users utilising older hardware configurations.
Q: Why isn’t XE Backwards compatible?
A: We did try to make XE backwards compatible for a while. However, the XE variant uses a chip that is generations ahead of the chip used on the SE. Consequently, the firmware had to be completely rewritten to accommodate the new chip. The firmware needs to be able to communicate with BEYOND and its processor in a different way from the previous SE model. “Emulating” SE on XE was not something we could do without introducing other problems that could deem the device unreliable for show production.

]]>Launched in December 2016, Dubai Festival City Mall’s IMAGINE, the laser, light and fountain show, is a vital part of Dubai Festival City’s aim to deliver daily exceptional experiences for their customers. IMAGINE has always been a true example of how this is brought to life – a free for all magical experience – IMAGINE is genuinely unforgettable and enthrals every time, combining lasers, light, fire, and water to tell remarkable, emotive stories.
The state-of-the-art show seamlessly fuses technology and art and has earned two Guinness World Records for the largest water screen projection and permanent projection mapping.
IMAGINE uses surround sound to deliver a 360-degree story to emotionally connect with audiences and produce a show like never seen before. The iconic multi-sensory show must be seen to be believed, leaving a long-lasting impression on all who experience it.
Set in the unique Amphitheatre of Dubai Festival City Mall’s Festival Bay, IMAGINE is a unique combination of laser, lights, fountains, fire, sound and projection, which are choreographed to produce magical stories, musical spectaculars, laser and lights experiences and impressive multimedia fireworks shows.
Initially featuring 9x KVANT RGB outdoor lasers, a mix of 30 & 25 Watt units positioned in media towers, waterside pods and the unique concrete floating centrepiece, we were able to create many stunning effects and combinations featuring them and giving us tremendous flexibility in creating new shows and thrills for our audience.
They were a particular asset to choreography with our fireworks and other elements for the spectacular multimedia fireworks shows.
From an operational point of view, the KVANT lasers have proved highly reliable and cost-effective over four years of intense use, and the backup support from Kvant on rare occasions was outstanding.
Therefore, when we came to consider how we could further enhance our capabilities and deliver even more breathtaking experiences for our visitors in 2021, ready for Dubai’s Expo and the UAE’S 50th National Day Celebrations, we looked to Kvant for additional lasers. We selected the Kvant Spectrum 33 RGBY (33-Watt OPSL based) and added five units to our existing inventory of lasers.
These have allowed us to add new dimensions to our shows, laser mapping, and new laser logos, culminating in our Spectacular Expo-themed “This is our Time “ show, Ahlan (Welcome) shows, and our signature Emirates Multimedia Fireworks show for UAE’s ‘50th National Day.
We now produce up to 12 new shows per year. Our inventory of KVANT lasers, along with their laser gobos, gives us many amazing effects and combinations so we can create different and unique magical experiences for our visitors 365 days a year. Some of our latest shows include Salamat, Fight Song, and Huddle Eid Melody of Arabia Multimedia Fireworks Show.
After our success with Expo2020 and 50th National day events, we have ordered another two KVANT 33-Watt lasers with the unique and innovative technology called BeamBrush.
The BeamBrush technology goes instantaneously from a razor-sharp laser beam to the wide beam of a wash light. This will give us the power to create brushed looks, making the laser look like a standard lighting fixture. It’s like having an all-in-one laser system, digital moving head, and beam lighting fixture. With BeamBrush, audience scanning effects are now safer, cleaner, and even more impactful than before.
We look forward to creating even more spectacular shows and events utilising these new lasers and effects in our IMAGINE shows. KVANT lasers are a key ingredient in developing and delivering IMAGINE.

]]>The New Year celebrations in prominent metropolitan cities tend to be always magnificent and, if possible, unique. But, unfortunately, this wasn't the case in many European places this year due to the ongoing restrictions. Luckily for Serbia's capital city of Belgrade, the situation was very different.
The Kula Tower is a modern high rise building that has not been finished yet, situated on the banks of the Sáva river in the fanciest part of the city - Belgrade Waterfront. With its height of 168 metres over 42 floors, it will most likely become the tallest building in the region.
We made the decision and accepted the challenge. We participated in an international contest, won it, and then had to prove that we can do it!
In cooperation with renowned Serbian partner SkyMusic Production and top-class firework company Fireworks by Grucci from the US, we assembled a stunning multimedia show with a massive firework display to dominate it all.
The hardest part of the operation was installing all the equipment onto the tower's facade, which was still undergoing works in progress, with several teams of workers present.
Within ten days, the climbers installed dozens of purpose-made and structurally certified fitting brackets to which all the lighting fixtures were attached afterwards. We tested the functionality and water resistance of all the equipment and connections during this phase.
At the same time, technicians were preparing laser display projectors and moving heads and descending them on ropes in special protection covers down to required locations.
The rest of the team prepared all the signal and power cabling inside the building. In the end, we run the two 600 metre lines of the main-signal optical cable to the central control room.
All of this happened with 500 builders working on-site, during building works in full swing, in all kinds of weather conditions and under strict health and safety regulations.
We used our KVANT Spectrum and Atom full-colour laser display systems with an optical power output of up to 30 Watts to accomplish the desired effect.
In addition, our technicians fitted every laser projector with a Rain Cover, protecting the device from rain, snow, frost and firework residues.
Finally, after acclimatisation, we tested every system several times and fine-adjusted its output for optimal performance. This was essential not only for the NYE but also for six weeks following the entry to 2022. Several different projections and shows are happening (happened) during these six weeks, each following a different theme.
Our video developers tailored all the content, fitting nicely onto permanently installed screens on the two tower's facades. But, of course, any of the content was not to be seen by the public before the event. So we made all the zoning, testing and show adjustments during nights at strictly set times.
Also, due to close proximity to the town's international airport, the lighting, and mainly the lasers, had to be dealt with 100% care regarding safety.
The show itself and its elements, including lasers, lighting, fireworks, video and sound, were time-coded, so there was no space for human-made mistakes in synchronisation.
The show was broadcast live by several Serbian TV stations and screened on three large stages in the city. After the show, the lasers, moving lights, and some video content stayed running long into the night, drawing attention to the landmark from far away.
We call them Architects; they are built into the IP67 rated industrial-grade chassis and are suitable for permanent outdoor installations.
The Architect projectors are incredibly bright and vivid static single-beam Sky lasers.
This Architect range starts at 270 Watt and goes all the way up to enormous 900 Watt RGB full-colour power output. And, of course, we can build for you anything in between, as required.
The beam coming out of the Architect system will draw attention from many miles away and beyond.
It will add a great deal of sublimity to already majestic nature-made, or human-made objects, making them even more unique, appealing and desirable.
This amount of laser power requires powerful cooling. That is why we use closed-circuit low-volume water cooling here. But no worries - it's not that old-school laser water cooling used decades ago, which required a vast amount of running water! This one is similar to water-cooled computers.
And what about controlling the power output and colours?
You can easily control them via the supplied analogue 0-5 Volts signal controller or an optional DMX control module.
Quickly go from a razor-sharp laser beam to the size of a wash light, instantaneously. Giving you the power to create brushed looks, making the laser look as if it were a standard lighting fixture. It's like having an incredible laser system, digital moving head, and beam lighting fixture all-in-one.
With BeamBrush, audience scanning effects are now safer, cleaner, and even more impactful than before.

When you constantly innovate, change is inevitable. We realise scanners are a fundamental component of any scanning laser system.
And in our pursuit of continued higher performance, KVANT and Pangolin have been working hand in hand to integrate the new ScannerMAX Juno 5 as default scanners in some of the Spectrum, Atom and Maxim systems.

The new BEYOND 5.0 update has just been released. Our partners at Pangolin have been working on a very robust and mature build over the last year to help make the software more refined, user friendly, and accessible to new clients.
The most significant and impactful change to the average user in 5.0 is the new licensing and registration system. This is a two-part system that departs us from the old school hardware-to-license file system we have used since beyond was introduced.
The new system now allows you to license BEYOND as an internet-based license. The software is tied to your internet-based user account, which provides added flexibility as you can move the license from one PC to the next. We also have our classic hardware-based license option still available.
The registration process ensures the FB3 and FB4 hardware is legitimate, not marked as lost or stolen. The registration is done automatically when you are connected to the internet and using the software. Migration to 5.0 and the registration process is seamless.
The new license system uses a connection to our BEYOND server to verify the hardware's license level. As such, this means no more shuffling of .bmp files. Just plug in your licensed hardware, and the server will recognise the serial number and activate it automatically!
Licenses now will be automatically served by our servers when you purchase BEYOND in any way. When you buy, you will get an email with a code to use in BEYOND, and you can get up and running immediately. You won't necessarily have to wait for your hardware to come in!
Hardware License is similar to how the old system worked, except the license is served and bound inside of BEYOND instead of through email. You will receive your code in your email immediately after purchase. When your hardware comes in, you will want to plug it into Beyond and use either "add new hardware license online" or "add new hardware license by email" if you wish to keep your PC offline.
Who is this for?
Internet License does not require hardware and is bound instead to a login. You can have many different licenses inside one account. You can manage which PC has which licenses and move licenses between computers as necessary. Internet licensed computers require a minimum of 60 days between seeing the internet. These licenses can be activated immediately after purchase and added to your account.
Who is this for?
You can now purchase an internet-based license – as defined above. This means the software is licensed to your internet account, and you can move your license from one PC to the next.
You can also purchase BEYOND on a "pay as you go" method, with a 1-month license purchase option. This allows you to purchase BEYOND for a shorter duration of time and save money if you do not need a lifetime license.
You will still have the option to purchase a lifetime license, or hardware-based license, if you desire that option.
Up until now, Beyond has been a one-time purchase and based on a lifetime license model.
However, we often have heard from clients that they need to use the software for a short period (as an example, a few weeks). As such, the cost of buying a lifetime license may have been out of reach. To help rectify this and make the software more accessible, we introduce a new 1-month purchase option.
These are licenses that are good for one month at activation and allow you to use any version of the software you desire. You can also extend your license for consecutive months if you choose to do so.
It's been a pipe dream of laser show professionals worldwide since the 90s to have software control of the divergence of the laser in real-time. Many attempts have been made, countless hours and late nights spent testing and theorising about how to do it, not just from Pangolin but from laserists all over the world. Each time wishing for "just a better mirror" or "if only this scanner was stronger" or "if only it could be smaller". Well, the time has come, a small, fast, and a reasonably priced solution is here, and it's called BeamBrush. All the tools you need for control and creation using BeamBrush technology have been added to version 5.0 of BEYOND.
BEYOND 5.0 comes with an expanded default workspace! This now includes more graphical content, abstract and beam effects, and a bunch of new content designed specifically for BeamBrush. All in all, it's more than 1000 new cues for you to play with.
Changes were made to how BEYOND's processing core communicates with windows, and calculation performance and CPU usage were enhanced. We have also updated the communication protocol between BEYOND and FB4's from TCP/IP to UDP.
We have included some great additions to our BEYOND 3D program and our 3D plugins for Cinema 4D and Autodesk 3DS Max. This includes adding soft line endings for corner vectors, and endpoints and Beam Brush/ Depth Cue features to change BeamBrush size based on Z axis and brightness. For the 3D rendering, we have added the ability to export Z-coordinates of the frame to BEYOND so you can do post-processing on 3D scenes like Z-axis colour effects or any effect within BEYOND that can use the Z-axis!
Wide-angle compensation is a new check box in your scan speed tab of projector settings. It automatically slows scan speeds down when projecting at large scan angles. This benefits from lowering the heat inside the scanners, correcting "bent" corners in projection, and extending the life of your scanners.
If you didn't notice, it worked! Lots of background fixes and optimisations were implemented since the last release.
Unlike previous BEYOND updates, 5.0 requires a fresh install of the software. This allows us to embed the new workspace, update 3rd party plugins like LC4D, and add various supporting tools and files. You can download the full version of BEYOND 5.0 here:
We recommend installing BEYOND 5.0 to a new folder on your C: drive and calling it BEYOND50. This way, you can always go back to your 4.0 version if needed or desired. It is the default process for the installer. Please be sure that when installing, you are doing a fresh and separate install.
Atom series systems offer the latest laser technology, providing more than plenty of white-light power for large indoor and outdoor shows. Some of the models are even capable of strong graphical performance, offering 60 Kpps Saturn1 scanning, an extensive range of colours and unparalleled luminosity thanks to Yellow OPSL and LD upgrades.
The MicroWheel control mechanism is built-in inside every Clubmax 10 FB4 and Clubmax 15 FB4 system as default, giving you the option to simply snap on this super cool effect to the aperture at any time.
It offers three interchangeable grating lenses and operates under DMX protocol.
The results of using this fixture are just mind blowing. You get so much for very little!
]]>
The newly developed version of dichroic mounts comes with some significant improvements over the original design, making this tool even more sophisticated:
The new dichroic filters are currently available for all Atom, Spectrum, LD, RGBY and LD-RGBY systems.
]]>The following showreel shows how much we progressed from two-person idea to what we are capable of today as a team of many - a group of great colleagues.
It took only 25 light-years during which we manufactured thousands of lasers for you, shaped the industry and supplied and performed hundreds of shows worldwide.

2019 ILDA Conference: four prestigious ILDA Awards go to KVANT Show Production.
Our guys happily went to Orlando, and by the look of it, they enjoyed every second of their trip, especially the time at NASA. Alright, the ILDA was good too :D
Martin Gabco and Michal Rezek accepted, on behalf of KVANT, four ILDA Awards for these projects in the following categories:
1st place
MJ Sergio - 2019 Edited Film/TV/Video
This show is breathtaking. And here we have to say that that's not mainly because of our excellent show programing, stunning visuals or quality lasers used.
It's Sergio himself. What a guy!
Would you actually believe that this really is his voice? Well, he looks like him, moves like him and sings like him too!
2nd place
ASOT - 2019 Innovative and Fine Art Laser Applications
Asot Haas is a fine artist who incorporates audio waves into visual art. The lasers are displaying the sounds which are hidden in creations of Mr. Haas.
3rd place
Tatra Ice Temple - 2019 Edited Film/TV/Video
This seasonal laser display installation is built inside of a gigantic ice sculpture. The inside temperature is permanently set at -12ºC, making the environment pretty challenging for all the crew and also the equipment. What we found the most interesting within the whole project is what happens when the laser beams diffuse in the ice of the sculpture. The resulting visual effects are very unusual and quite spectacular to watch live.
Another 3rd place
Spherical Show - 2019 Planetarium Show
This installation was the first of our spherical/planetarium shows we have ever done.
We built a spherical dome that's 25 meters in diameter and for many days played inside with both, video projectors and lasers. We did it mainly to find out what's possible in such space.
The following show is the result of the one-month worth of experiments. And since we liked the result very much, the spherical show became for a while our temporary showroom for clients.
Big thanks to everyone who was involved in these and all other projects. We appreciate their hard work so much!

That’s obviously nearly impossible, but also quite subjective from their perspective so don’t worry too much about it! Every corporate laser display show can be designed and performed so it takes the audience off their seats or feet and turns their evening into a memorable experience. You just need to know how to do that.
Here’s a few tips that will hopefully help you to steer your show the right direction:
Some good examples of successful corporate laser and multimedia shows designed and performed by Kvant can be found below:
VW Open Days (laser beam show, kinetic balls tracked by lasers, laser bars)
Dreams (laser beam show, laser mapping and other SFX)
BMW 7 introduction in Slovakia ("holographic-like" laser projection onto a water screen)

The setup of our booth was aimed at professional lighting designers, mainly to present how easy it is to program and control our lasers from lighting consoles via DMX and ArtNET.
The whole show was controlled from GrandMA and included the following laser systems:
The laser mapping was performed onto the top section of the booth.
There were four workstations available for the visitors to play with, including three with desks from Avolites, GrandMA and ChamSys.
On the display there was also Logolas 3000 and Spectrum 20 with optional external optical bench attached.
Kvant projectors come with undoubtably sharper and nicer beams than all other systems showed here at LDI. The difference is clearly visible at first look!

Thanks to all our visitors for stopping by and for their evaluation which we appreciate the most.
